Korean LPGA star Kim Hyo-joo successfully defended her title at the Ladies European Tour (LET) event held at the Aramco Korea Championship, taking place at New Korea Country Club in Goyang, on Sunday.
Kim finished the tournament with a score of seven-under 209, securing a two-shot victory over Switzerland's Chiara Tamburlini. The win earned Kim a prize of $225,000. Ranked eighth in the world, Kim shot a three-under 69 in the final round, fending off Tamburlini, who carded a 68.
"I am so pleased to have come here as the defending champion and win again," Kim stated, expressing her joy in creating memorable experiences with her fans. "The whole week has felt like a birthday."
Entering the final round at four-under, Kim was one stroke ahead of South Africa's Lee-Anne Pace. Despite a bogey at the par-3 fourth hole, she quickly bounced back with a birdie at the par-4 sixth. Kim also made birdies at the par-3 11th and on both par-5 holes on the back nine, the 13th and the 17th.
Tamburlini, who had previously won three LET tournaments in 2024, made a strong push in the final round with five birdies.

김효주는 54홀 대회에서 총 7언더파 209타를 기록하며 스위스의 치아라 탐불리니를 2타 차로 이기고 우승 상금 225,000달러를 차지했다.
세계 랭킹 8위인 김효주는 최종 라운드에서 3언더파 69타를 기록하며 탐불리니의 4번째 LET 타이틀을 저지했다.
"이곳에 방어 챔피언으로 와서 다시 우승하게 되어 매우 기쁘다"고 김효주는 말했다. "팬들과 함께 멋진 추억을 만들 수 있어 특히 행복하다. 이번 주 내내 생일처럼 느껴졌다."
김효주는 최종 라운드에 4언더파로 단독 선두로 나섰으며, 남아프리카의 리앤 페이스보다 1타 앞섰다.
김효주는 4번 홀에서 보기를 기록하며 다소 흔들렸으나, 6번 홀에서 버디로 재정비했다. 11번 홀에서도 버디를 기록한 김효주는 후반 9홀에서 13번 홀과 17번 홀 두 개의 파5홀에서도 버디를 성공시켰다.
2024년에 3개의 LET 대회에서 우승한 탐불리니는 최종 라운드에서 5개의 버디를 기록하며 추격을 시도했으나 아쉬움을 남겼다.
