The leading scorer in the Korean league has received his first national team call-up as the country approaches qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Head coach Hong Myung-bo announced a 26-man squad on Monday for the Taegeuk Warriors' final two matches in Group B of the third round of the Asian World Cup qualifiers.
Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors forward Jeon Jin-woo, who is currently leading K League 1 with 10 goals this season, has been selected for the national team for the first time at the age of 25. Notably, he has not previously played for any national team at any age level. His impressive performance this season earned him the K League 1 Player of the Month award for April.
Jeon is the only player in this squad to receive a call-up for the first time, although three other players, including FC Midtjylland defender Lee Han-beom, are seeking their first cap after being called up for earlier matches. The squad also features familiar faces such as captain Son Heung-min, who recently won a UEFA Europa League title with Tottenham Hotspur, and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lee Kang-in, whose club is set to compete in the UEFA Champions League.

전북 현대모터스의 공격수 전진우는 이번 시즌 K리그 1에서 10골로 리그 1위를 기록하며 25세의 나이에 처음으로 국가대표팀에 합류했다. 그는 지금까지 어떤 연령대의 국가대표팀에서도 뛰어본 적이 없다.
전진우의 돌풍적인 활약 덕분에 그는 4월의 K리그 1 이달의 선수로 선정됐다.
이번 팀에서는 그가 유일하게 처음 소집된 선수지만, FC 미티윌란의 수비수 이한범 등 세 명은 이전 경기에서 발탁된 이후 첫 국제 A매치를 목표로 하고 있다.
그는 토트넘 홋스퍼에서 UEFA 유로파 리그 우승을 차지한 주장 손흥민, 프랑스 클럽 파리 생제르맹 소속의 미드필더 이강인 등 잘 알려진 선수들과 함께 팀에 합류했다.
이 프랑스 클럽은 UEFA에서 한국 선수들과 맞붙을 예정이다.
