Authorities have uncovered a significant gold export fraud scheme at Incheon Airport Regional Customs, involving seven domestic companies that falsified certificates of origin.
The fraudulent activities were aimed at evading U.S. tariffs, with the total value of the rerouted gold amounting to 283.9 billion won (approximately $204 million).
Gold products disguised as legitimate Korean exports were displayed by customs officials as part of the investigation into the matter.
This revelation highlights ongoing concerns regarding trade compliance and the integrity of export practices in the region.
