FIFA has imposed penalties on the Korean national football federation and a local club due to a violation of a player registration ban. The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced on Sunday that FIFA's Disciplinary Committee has fined the KFA 30,000 Swiss francs (approximately $37,650) and the K League 1 club Gwangju FC 10,000 Swiss francs.
Additionally, Gwangju FC has been banned from signing new players for the next two registration periods. However, the fine imposed on the KFA will be suspended if no similar violations occur within the next year. For Gwangju FC, the ban on the second registration period will also be suspended for a year, allowing them to acquire players in the latter part of 2026, provided they do not commit further violations.
The registration ban on Gwangju FC was initially imposed on December 17, 2024, due to their failure to pay $3,000 in FIFA solidarity contributions after signing former player Jasir Asani from Albania two years prior. These fees are allocated to players' former clubs for their development from ages 12 to 23.

FIFA는 2024년 12월 17일 광주FC가 2년 전 알바니아에서 전직 선수 자시르 아사니를 영입한 후 3,000 달러의 FIFA 연대 기여금을 미납한 것에 대해 등록 금지를 부과했다. 이러한 기여금은 선수의 12세에서 23세까지의 이전 클럽에 분배된다.
