Special counsel Cho Eun-suk's team announced on Thursday that it will extend its investigation into former President Yoon Suk Yeol's martial law case by an additional 30 days, which will last until mid-October.
The original mandate for the investigation was set for 90 days, concluding in the middle of this month. With the new extension, the investigation will now run through October 15.
During a press briefing, assistant special counsel Park Ji-young stated, "We reported the reasons to the National Assembly and the president in writing."
Cho's team is looking into multiple charges linked to Yoon's unsuccessful attempt to impose martial law in December, including allegations of leading an insurrection and inciting foreign aggression.
Yoon has been in custody since his second arrest on July 10 and is currently facing trial on charges of insurrection and abuse of power.

윤 전 대통령은 7월 10일 두 번째 체포 이후 구속 중이며, 반란 및 권한 남용 혐의로 재판을 받고 있다.
