Former representative of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea, Kim Byung-wook, announced on Sunday his appointment as the new presidential secretary for political affairs.
Kim, who is regarded as a close aide to President Lee Jae Myung, expressed a "heavy" sense of responsibility regarding his new role. He stated that the position involves coordinating communication between the party, the government, and the presidential office to ensure that the people's voice is accurately reflected in state affairs.
In his statement, Kim emphasized his commitment to balancing stability and reform while fostering bipartisan cooperation. Since losing his seat in the previous year's general election, he has continued to support the president through his involvement with a civic group.
In his new capacity, Kim will report to Senior Presidential Secretary for Political Affairs, Woo Sang-ho.

김 의원은 "안정과 개혁 사이의 균형을 유지하고, 초당적 협력의 정신을 기르는 데 헌신하겠다"고 말했다.
그는 지난해 총선에서 의원직을 상실한 이후에도 시민단체 활동을 통해 대통령의 핵심 지지자로 남아있었다.
새로운 역할에서 그는 정치비서실의 우상호 수석비서관에게 보고할 예정이다.
