A global study published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology has identified six personality traits that define a "cool" person, transcending nationality, age, and gender. The research surveyed 5,943 participants across 12 countries, including the United States, China, Germany, and Nigeria.
Participants were asked to consider what constitutes a "cool" person compared to a "good" person and rated individuals based on personality and value-based assessment tools. Only those familiar with the term "cool" were included in the analysis.
The study concluded that the traits widely associated with coolness include extroversion, hedonism, power, adventurousness, openness, and autonomy. These traits were consistently identified across diverse demographic groups, indicating a universal understanding of what it means to be considered cool.
