Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will compete in the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan this weekend, with Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in aiming to become only the second South Korean player to win the title.
The match is scheduled for 9 p.m. Saturday at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany (4 a.m. Sunday in Korea). PSG seeks its first Champions League crown, while Inter aims for its fourth.
Until now, former Manchester United player Park Ji-sung remains the only South Korean to have won a Champions League title, although he did not play in the 2008 final when his team achieved victory over Chelsea in a penalty shootout.
Park was notably omitted from the substitutes' bench for that final, a decision that disappointed many Korean fans, as he had started in both legs of the semifinals. In subsequent finals in 2009 and 2011, when Park did play, Manchester United was defeated by FC Barcelona.
